The Varsity players continue their annual tradition of wearing their camo jerseys in honor of Specialist Brian K. Arsenault for tomorrow afternoon’s game at 2pm at Northstar.
Specialist Arsenault was an Algonquin Hockey alumni family member, who was valiantly killed in action in Ghazni, Afghanistan on September 4th, 2014. Brian wore the number 3 for Algonquin hockey playing on the varsity team all four years prior to graduating in 2004. Brian has been awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, National Service Medal, Afghanistan Service Medal and numerous others. The game is being played in his honor and memory.
We will be collecting donations at the link below for the Spc. Brian K. Arsenault Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Spc. Brian K. Arsenault Memorial Scholarship Fund was generated to provide financial assistance to students. The award is not based on academics and is available for all students to apply. The application involves an essay prompt and in the past students have been asked to discuss selfless service, heroism, and patriotism. The scholarship means a lot to the Arsenault family and helps them stay connected to the Algonquin community and keeps Brian’s memory alive.
Aside from the scholarship, the fund also donates money to veterans in need throughout the year. In the past they have been able to assist with car repairs, rent/mortgage payments, Christmas gifts, etc. The donations remain anonymous and are confidential to those involved in the fund.
Please consider a donation in Brian’s memory.
